Castaway Fiji is a founding member of MES Fiji – The Mamanuca Environment Society. Castaway is both a leading advocate of environmental sustainability in tourism development and is Green Globe 21 accredited.
Castaway Island, Fiji (Qalito Island is the Fijian name) is committed to environmental responsibility – a key value of our operation – in preserving and protecting the island’s lush tropical vegetation, white sandy beaches and vibrant coral reefs, by minimising pollution and managing our human impact. In this regard Castaway has adopted the goals and objectives of the Mamanuca Environment Society (MES), raising awareness of our fragile environment through the education of our guests, staff and local communities.
We comply with all Fiji environmental legislation. We constantly monitor and improve the resort’s operation using relevant performance indicators and follow best practice techniques. We give preference to employing individuals and to sourcing products and services of local community origin. We maintain best practice in the operation and conduct of our business in harmony with environmental and social commitments.
We strive to ensure all employees receive the education and training necessary for them to carry out their work in an environmentally responsible manner and encourage and recognise employees for their contribution towards improving our environmental performance. Our policy is communicated to all our employees, customers and suppliers, made available on request to our associated stakeholders and guests and is subject to annual review.
GETTING TO CASTAWAY ISLAND
It’s easy and fun by boat, water taxi, seaplane or helicopter.
SOUTH SEA CRUISES
Many guests make their way to Castawaywith South Sea Cruises’ fast 150 seater, split deck, air-conditioned catamarans. Check-in 30 minutes prior to departure and sit back and gaze at the crystal water during your one and a half hour journey. The catamaran departs both Denarau Marina and Castaway Island three times daily on the following schedules.

PACIFIC ISLAND AIR, HELICOPTER AND SEAPLANE TRANSFERS
Amphibious floatplanes depart Nadi International Airport and from other locations by prior reservation arrangement. Flight time to Castaway is approximately ten minutes from Nadi. Soak up the stunning views over Fiji on your way to your little island home!
Castaway Island has a helicopter pad, ready for those guests wanting to arrive in style. Helicopters seating a maximum of six persons depart Nadi International Airport and from other locations by prior reservation arrangement. Flight time to Castaway is approximately ten minutes from Nadi.
